Outreach
There exists great potential in every young person to shine, and that more should be done to help youths-at-risk and ex-youth offenders in Singapore to discover and reaffirm their talents. This is especially vital in Singapore, where emphasis is often placed on academic success at the expense of lifelong character development.
Youth Selection and Training Programme
In preparation for our musicals If I Could Have and Picking the Pieces, qualified instructors and professionals select and develop youths-at-risk and ex-youth offenders who display interest and talent in performing in acting, dancing and singing. Apart from discovering a new, refreshing side to themselves, these youths learn how to articulate their feelings and perform confidently in front of others.
Musical Showcase
The best way to reach out to youths is to empower them. To ensure that youths put their newly-acquired skills to good use, we entrust them with the responsibility to dramatically reenact an extract of our musicals If I Could Have and Picking the Pieces as part of our sharings. Besides helping their peers gain an insight of the little-known concerns facing youths-at-risk, they will develop a new sense of confidence and pride being a group of "Youths Helping Youths".
