Public Education
SPLAT! engages youths in Singapore to reflect deeply about the concerns and challenges which youths-at-risk and ex-youth offenders face through sharings in educational institutions, musicals, visual art exhibitions and knowledge sharing with educational institutions and social service organisations.
SharingsAftercare Officers from the Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports, Crime Prevention Officers from the National Crime Prevention Council, Officers from the Singapore Prison Service and ex-youth offenders share their little-known personal experiences about the causes and effects of youth delinquency with youths and educators from SPLAT!'s partner educational institutions. Extracts from our musicals If I Could Have and Picking the Pieces revolving around at-risk behaviour and youth delinquency are also screened. In 2008 and 2009, 27 sharings have been held to 18,900 students and 1,080 educators from 23 educational institutions listed here. If you believe such sharings will benefit your educational institution or social service organisation, contact us. |

Musicals
Aftercare supervisees and discharged youth offenders from the Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports, youths from educational institutions and youth artistes from community arts groups produce and perform SPLAT!'s musicals If I Could Have and Picking the Pieces. Our musicals revolve around themes reflecting the concerns and challenges which youths-at-risk and ex-youth offenders face, explore the vital roles played by families, educators, peers and the community in helping youths-at-risk and ex-youth offenders to realise the consequences of their actions, and become more capable and resilient in overcoming life's challenges.
SPLAT!'s musicals comprise the selection and training of youths-at-risk, youth offenders, ex-youth offenders and other youths for a full-length musical production to the public. Our musicals align expressive arts pedagogies with service-learning by harnessing the multi-sensory and transformational nature of the performing arts and the desire and drive in youths to engage the public into accepting and offering second chances to youths-at-risk and ex-youth offenders.
In 2008 and 2009, four performances have been held to 960 guests.
We are looking for more instructors and professionials to be part of our musical productions. If you enjoy interacting with youths and believe in changing the lives of others through the arts, contact us.
